Introduction

I am Joe Rivera, President of Arkeon. I have 39 years of experience in the property damage restoration business. We are truly a 24/7 emergency response company, and I still respond currently to all jobs myself. I was one of the first people certified in mold remediation in the country, and put the health and safety of my clients above all other considerations. I have dedicated my life to this industry and in serving the clients that call upon me.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Most of the work that we do is covered by insurance so all we would collect is a deductible, and bill insurance for the rest. Of course we work with clients on self-pay jobs as well and are competitively priced.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I would schedule with you according to the response needs of the situation. Generally I inspect and assess the situation or the need and determine what the best route is for handling, and propose the best route for the client. Often there is a question as to whether something should go through insurance or not, and I help with that and we proceed according to the needs of the situation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a licensed general contractor and am also certified in water, fire, smoke, water damage, mold remediation. I have 39 years of experience handling jobs from a few hundred dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars of damage, rebuilding from the ground up, etc.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started out cleaning carpets in 1985 and did my first water damage job right away. I was the inventor of a patented chemical free process which is in use in the industry today, and decided that the issues with mold were even more dangerous than the chemicals involved in the industry, so ventured into the emergency damage repair as the focus of my company, and shortly thereafter became a general contractor.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Though I mostly work with homeowners, we have taken on commercial projects and large-scale projects as well. So we take on jobs large and small.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
In this industry especially with water damage drying times vary and depends on the source and degree of saturation of materials, but if we get there quickly, we can prevent a lot of damage. I recall one job where we dried the place from a plumber mistake and we took care of it so fast that there was no demolition needed at all, just drying! So getting onto the job quickly makes it a much more pleasant experience for all.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When your home is damaged, you need the best on the job, because for most of us this is our biggest investment and it can be more damaged by inexpert handling of the situation, such as letting mold grow and contaminate all of your belongings, for which you may or may not have coverage.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Do I want this to be done right and efficiently? (Then call right away, don't wait!)
